There is a saying in English that I take
solace in when the world becomes a bit too complicated to understand, it goes
like this: “God made man very simple, but man has made his life very
complicated”.

Father and Son
Dear Son,
Forgive your mother and me for the fight that we had last night. I’m sorry that you had to hear all that screaming and raising of voices. I could say it was her fault and she started it but it really doesn’t matter because I cause my fair share of fights too. When you get to my age maybe you will understand why man and woman sometimes behave like cat and dog.

Coca-Cola in my Fanta
A wise lady once told me, only after marriage do you realize what the
truth really is. The first two years may be okay, but after that is when you
realize that you married someone totally different from what you thought you
were getting. It’s like buying a can of Fanta because the label says Fanta and
finding that the contents inside are Coca-Cola.

Proudly Sponsored by…
Across the road from the restaurant, I see
a little girl as I sit by the terrace. She is wearing what appears to be a red
and white polka dot dress. Hard to really tell as she is covered in mud head to
foot. She holds with both hands an ice cream cone as if it was her most prized
possession in the world. She spots me staring from across the road and she
smiles, such a beautiful smile. Then she waves, I wasn’t expecting that. I
return the smile and wave back enthusiastically. Hello.

Prayers to an Evil God
He stopped
praying ages ago. After all why bother anymore? And it’s not because he loves
sin and worldly things. No, he is an upright man, and as faithful as true
Christians can be. It’s just that God don’t listen to him anymore. His wife has
been on a hospital bed for 6 years and he has prayed for her and prayed for her
and prayed for her and she is still there, still going through therapy, still
not allowed to leave the hospital. Her disease shows no sign of ever
regressing. And he is worn out, mentally, physically and emotionally. His home
is a wreck. His money ran out months ago and now he has huge debts. He can’t go
to work, who else would look after her? He has called and God just won’t
answer. The Bible says seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be
opened to you, ask and it will be given to you. The Bible is a liar.

Forget me Not
I forgot to pray this morning. That’s not really true, I
didn’t feel like praying this morning so I just got up, took a shower, said
goodbye to the wife and kids and left for work. I like playing music when I
drive. And I was feeling quite good this morning so I had the radio on quite
loud. I was driving okay, till I noticed the right-end rear of my car tilt
significantly down and the car vibrating and misaligned. I wondered what that
was about, probably a flat tyre, then I saw my back tyre overtake me by the
right and speed ahead of me. That’s when I hit the brakes.
