Why we cant see God

My message today is for those who  are not sure God exists. I don’t mean those among us who choose to believe that God does not exist so that they can go on living the life they live the way they want it. I mean those whose intellect allows them to seriously wonder and search for answers. I mean those who are open to discussing it rationally and with an open mind and heart.

The Inconveniences of God

Most of us do not like to be inconvenienced by God. Rather we dislike it with a passion and treat it as an injustice. When God changes things in our lives and rattles our cage we behave as if we know better how things should be when in fact it is Gods wisdom that matters more and not how our logic dictates things should be.

Plans He has for Me

This is my testimony for 2017. Ordinarily I would not write this but I have come to find that when I write some get encouraged, others find comfort and some enlightenment and so for that reason, that it may help another to stand in faith in the face of impossible odds I have to speak. If this offends those who took part in the story then I apologize but I am a servant of God first and foremost then of man second, my duty I will do.

Enemy of mine

I don’t believe in enemies. I find no satisfaction in holding a grudge so long that it consumes me with a dislike for a person for longer than a day, I just don’t have the emotional strength required to sustain such passion. Nevertheless that does not mean that there are not people out there who consider me their enemy.

The Fates of our Mothers

Here’s a little something to strengthen your faith and maybe adjust your perspective.

I have shared an office space with a Lawyer for over a year now. He is a remarkable man. He is Muslim and from him I learnt that faith can be just as true for Muslims (and Lawyers) as it is for Christians. His values are flawless, his humility personally shaming. If I was a Muslim I would want to be him.

Sacrifices

I would like to share some thoughts on sacrifices. In 2017 I have been feeling more and more aware of the sacrifices I have been making in the name of my faith. The biggest sacrifice I made when I got married. I am aware that on my wedding day I sacrificed a dozen or so sexual encounters with different honeys of the born more beautiful each year variety.

Welcome to "The Good Life"

There is a saying in English that I take solace in when the world becomes a bit too complicated to understand, it goes like this: “God made man very simple, but man has made his life very complicated”.

Father and Son

Dear Son,
Forgive your mother and me for the fight that we had last night. I’m sorry that you had to hear all that screaming and raising of voices. I could say it was her fault and she started it but it really doesn’t matter because I cause my fair share of fights too. When you get to my age maybe you will understand why man and woman sometimes behave like cat and dog.

Coca-Cola in my Fanta

A wise lady once told me, only after marriage do you realize what the truth really is. The first two years may be okay, but after that is when you realize that you married someone totally different from what you thought you were getting. It’s like buying a can of Fanta because the label says Fanta and finding that the contents inside are Coca-Cola.

Proudly Sponsored by…

Across the road from the restaurant, I see a little girl as I sit by the terrace. She is wearing what appears to be a red and white polka dot dress. Hard to really tell as she is covered in mud head to foot. She holds with both hands an ice cream cone as if it was her most prized possession in the world. She spots me staring from across the road and she smiles, such a beautiful smile. Then she waves, I wasn’t expecting that. I return the smile and wave back enthusiastically. Hello.

Prayers to an Evil God

He stopped praying ages ago. After all why bother anymore? And it’s not because he loves sin and worldly things. No, he is an upright man, and as faithful as true Christians can be. It’s just that God don’t listen to him anymore. His wife has been on a hospital bed for 6 years and he has prayed for her and prayed for her and prayed for her and she is still there, still going through therapy, still not allowed to leave the hospital. Her disease shows no sign of ever regressing. And he is worn out, mentally, physically and emotionally. His home is a wreck. His money ran out months ago and now he has huge debts. He can’t go to work, who else would look after her? He has called and God just won’t answer. The Bible says seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened to you, ask and it will be given to you. The Bible is a liar.

Forget me Not

I forgot to pray this morning. That’s not really true, I didn’t feel like praying this morning so I just got up, took a shower, said goodbye to the wife and kids and left for work. I like playing music when I drive. And I was feeling quite good this morning so I had the radio on quite loud. I was driving okay, till I noticed the right-end rear of my car tilt significantly down and the car vibrating and misaligned. I wondered what that was about, probably a flat tyre, then I saw my back tyre overtake me by the right and speed ahead of me. That’s when I hit the brakes.

Blessed be he who blesses

My friend. I searched for a gift to give you, a gift that would be meaningful to you and give you much happiness. But alas I could not find it.

He said, she said, they said, I heard

Am sick and tired of being sick and tired of all of you. Liars, backbiters, tale-bearers, busybodies. You brood of vampires and vipers who feed off the lives of others. You waste my time. Mind your own business.

I get tired of listening to what they have to say. One comes and says “I heard your Uncle was caught doing this, that, and other”. Another comes and says “your Aunt was caught red handed with another man, pants down and bent over”. Yet another comes and says “your Grandfather has a second family in another country” etc.

Fool Fool Boy

I heard it through the office grapevine, a disturbing piece of news. Apparently, I am planning to buy a car. Apparently, someone told my boss, who told someone else, who told me. A Nissan Tiida, so I hear. I would be inclined to disbelieve the gossip but the one who told me was a reliable source. Well, as reliable as human beings can be.

Orders from Above

I have suicidal tendencies. Don’t get me wrong, when I say that I don’t mean I want to hang myself with a rope on a tree, jump in front of a speeding truck, drink poison, or simply drown myself. I just want to die. Sometimes anyway.

Life tires me. I get tired of waking up every day to go to work, of pretending to listen to people who are less intelligent than me. I get tired of pretending I am interested in the world and how things work, of listening to the radio or TV telling us how wicked men can be to each other. I get tired of my sins, of repenting of them, then going back to do what I said I wouldn’t, and starting the cycle all over again.

Too Sexy for you Boy

Men are increasingly obsessed about how good the woman they are with looks. Even the bible-thumping “Men of God” will rarely tell an ugly chick that “God has revealed to them” that they are to be united in marriage.
